Anderson pleads not guilty; contract not renewed
Former Boothbay Town Manager John Anderson pleaded not guilty on October 11 to misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and lewdness, stemming from an alleged incident that occurred at his home on July 11.
Anderson did not appear in court but his attorney filed the plea on his behalf; no further court dates have been set.
On October 15, the Derry Town Council voted 6-1 to not renew Anderson's contract as Derry Town Manager; his current contract expires on October 25.
Anderson has held the position since he resigned as Boothbay Town Manager, a position he held from 2000 to 2010.
Anderson has been on administrative leave since July 12, when allegations were first brought to the attention of the Derry Town Council.
