The large steel barge that has been in the harbor for the past year will soon be out of the water, in for repairs and back out to the fishing grounds.
Westward, the large fishing boat, has been on a mooring for approximately a year in the harbor near McKown Point.
The crews at the Boothbay Harbor Shipyard will soon haul out the boat and begin working on its propulsion systems and running gear in anticipation of it once again returning to the water, Shipyard manger Eric Graves said August 30.
“(The owner is) ready to get back into the New England fishing fleet,” He said. “He's anxious to get back out there.”
The 136-foot Dutch-built steel ship has been in the harbor for approximately a year awaiting repairs. The ship is used for fish processing.
