Fossel requests recount
Les Fossel, Republican candidate for Senate District 13, who lost in the Nov. 4 election to Senator Chris Johnson (D-Somerville) by an unofficial vote total of 339 votes, has asked Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap for a recount.
In a Nov. 12 letter to Dunlap, Fossel said he has designated attorney William Logan to represent him and that, "I understand I will be responsible for supplying volunteers for this recount and that I will have no direct involvement."
The two candidates were involved in a recount in 2012 and Johnson was declared a winner by 171 votes, according to a Boothbay Register article.
“I have no plans to concede the race to Chris Johnson,” said Fossel earlier this week.
