Fugitive Boothbay Harbor burglar caught in Missouri
Ronald Fuller’s apparent penchant for collectibles may have led to his arrest in St. Francois County, Missouri, on April 10. Instead of choosing an inconspicuous car, Fuller made his getaway from Maine in a high value, eye-catching convertible.
St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Gregory Armstrong said residents reported seeing a 1970s-era Chevrolet with Maine plates drive into a wooded area in Farmington, Mo. Callers were concerned that the driver may have been involved in methamphetamine production.
Responding to the tip, officers located Fuller and the car, a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible valued at over $30,000, at a campsite in the woods.
The car had been reported stolen from its owner in Bath, Maine and police took Fuller into custody. Deputies also recovered a large amount of cash and jewelry at the campsite.
Deputies later determined that Fuller was wanted on outstanding federal probation violation warrants and in connection with local burglaries, and notified the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
Fuller is currently being held in the St. Francois County Jail, Farmington, Mo. Fuller will be extradited to Maine to face federal probation violations and charges associated with over two dozen burglaries in Lincoln and Sagahadoc counties. U.S. Marshal Deputy Dean Knightly said it may take a few weeks before he is returned to Maine.
