Is spring really here? Some cold temperatures – I keep being told not to plant my herbs and veggies yet. They sit outside during the daytime in their pots soaking up some sun and rain, then back to the garage for another day. I can’t even plant my new pachysandra yet. However, I did hear many lawnmowers whirring last Saturday, so I guess the grass is growing! And the flowering cherry trees and forsythia are making the region very colorful with their pinks and yellows – not to mention hyacinth showing their pinks and blues. The moorings and docks are being set and the restaurants and shops are reopening. So, I guess, spring is here.

On Thursday, May 16, our friend and local tech guru from the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, Bethany Schmidt, will return to visit with us from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help you with any computer/cell phone/tablet questions you may have. Please drop in and keep Bethany busy! Otherwise I will…

Here’s a little bit of advance notice: Richard Plunkett, the Wizard of Odds and Ends, will lead us on a “Hidden Treasure” architectural tour of 1800-1920 buildings in Richmond.  Here’s the tentative schedule:  we will leave The Community Center around 10:30 on the morning of May 22, have a “Dutch Treat Lunch” at a Café, tour the buildings, and return to Boothbay about 2:30-3 p.m. Rain date will be Friday, May 24.  Richard is so looking forward to telling you about the history of this area. Space is limited. So please come to The Community Center to sign up.
