Studio 53 Fine Art of Boothbay Harbor will present a group show of Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) alumni and faculty artists Sept. 2 to Oct. 12. A casual meet and greet is planned for Friday, Sept. 4, from 5-8 p.m. with an opening reception to follow on Saturday, Sept. 5, during the same hours. The public is invited to both events.

Over 30 artists are participating in this exhibition that will include RISD graduates beginning in 1939 and into the 2000s.

The Maine-based connected artists are well represented by such notables as painter Robert Hamilton of Port Clyde, Stonington painter Gerald Immonen, Rockland glass artist Eric Hopkins, Blue Hill painter John Gallagher, Waldoboro printmaker Holly Berry, Belfast painter David Estey; from the Boothbay region: renowned sculptor Don Meserve, Paula Ragsdale, Douglas Gimbel, Alison Evans and Seaver Leslie; works appearing courtesy of Gleason Fine Art are by Brooklyn painter Tom Curry and Little Cranberry Island painter Henry Isaacs.

The Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island area is represented by Bonita Flanders, Michael Guy, Padric Meagher, Bill Drew, Bill Newkirk, John Riedel, Ida Schmulowitz, Tony Braid, Racket Shreve, Sarah Faux, Carolynn Baker and Milo Winter.

Exhibitors from the New York City area include Vickie Wulff, Neke Carson, Richard Merkin, Howard Gladstone, Dan Gosch and Labella Blair.

Artists out west include Gordon Lambert, Dean Richardson, Heidi Seidelhuber, Jonathan Menche and Terry Seaman.

Each artist will have three or four works in the Studio 53/RISD show, which will occupy half of the gallery's main floor and the whole of the second and third floors. Don Meserve's large sculptures will continue to be on view in the waterfront sculpture garden at the gallery.

Studio 53 is located at 53 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. The gallery is open daily 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free parking is available behind the gallery near the sculpture garden.
