Visions for the East Side
Dear Editor:
A new park with so much more — what a great multi-use option for the East Side and an asset for the town of Boothbay Harbor. More dockage with public water access. Income producing docking fees. Maybe the potential for an East Side restroom for tourists and even showers for visiting boaters. Perhaps a restaurant or a food cart on site, a picnic area and the possibility of an inviting public space from which to enjoy the beautiful harbor views. This could be something like the Whale Park on the West Side with expanded public water uses.
I also remain in favor of keeping new condominiums 500 feet from the water mark as the current Boothbay Harbor ordinances mandate rather than the minuscule 25 feet being considered for the new East Side waterfront zone. I strongly support keeping building heights at the current 30 feet allowing 2 1/2 stories of habitable space.
