Voting results from the Twin Villages
Approximately 250 ballots were cast in Damariscotta, and most of those went to support the school budget.
The Great Salt Bay school budget was passed Tuesday, June 10, 186-54, by Damariscotta voters, who also voted in favor of the secondary school budget, 194-47.
Damariscotta will also have two new selectmen: write-in candidates James Cosgrove (99 votes) and George Parker (97) both received the most votes and will serve three-year terms on the board. The pair replaces Joshua Pinkham and Vicki Pinkham, neither of whom sought reelection.
In the school boar election, it was Angela Russ who received the most votes for the vacant spot with 80 ballots in her favor. Dana Orenstein was second with 29 votes.
John Gallagher was elected to the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District with 192 votes.
Newcastle gets new board member
Newcastle voters brought in one familiar and one new face to the board of selectmen during the Tuesday, June 10 elections.
Voters gave the OK to returning member Ben Frey, with 130 votes, and voted in Carolyn Hatch, 125 votes, to replace the outgoing Ellen Dickens.
Newcastle voters also voted-in Mark Doe to a spot on the school committee with 144 balots cast in his favor.
Both school budgets were passed by voters, with the Great Salt Bay budget being passed, 113-45, and the secondary education budget passing by a 113-44 margin.
