Wiscasset man pleads guilty to domestic assault
A Wiscasset man pleaded guilty May 30 to one count of violence/assault at the Lincoln County Superior Court.
Clifton Hannah, 47, pleaded guilty to the domestic assault charge following a February arrest.
He was sentenced to three years in prison with all but 107 days suspended and two years probation. Clifton must also avoid contact with his teenage daughter, who was in custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Hannah received credit for already serving 107 days at Two Bridges Regional Jail.
Judge Andrew Horton said there is a line between disciplining a child and domestic assault that Hannah crossed.
“This is very much egregious,” Horton said.
The incident stems from a February 13 incident when Hannah and his then 15-year-old daughter were engaged in an argument. The court alleged that Hannah pushed the minor to the floor, and after she pushed back he allegedly struck her in the face. The resulting blow broke her nose and blackened an eye. She was treated by Wiscasset Ambulance Personnel.
Hannah was originally charged with aggravated assault.
