Fire Department open house
The Boothbay Fire Department held its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on October 8.
Between 100 and 150 people showed up to enjoy the food (hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, soda, chips, cookies and more) and for the demonstrations of the department’s equipment.
The Boothbay Harbor, Southport and Edgecomb fire departments and the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service also participated.
Kids were treated to a bounce castle, went through a smoke trailer where they learned how to escape by climbing down a ladder, and were given posters and a packet of fire prevention tips.
The children also got to use a fire hose and climb on the fire trucks.
