Dear Editor: 

I write to thank everyone in the Boothbay region who engaged in dialogue about my request to recognize June as LGBTQ+ Pride month. Whether they supported my request or not, what matters is that we engaged in a conversation that was respectful and where everyone was able to freely express their opinion, which is the spirit of Pride. 

I want to give special thanks to the government of each town for letting me present my request and taking it seriously. Regardless of their decision in response to my request, I truly appreciate the respect and consideration I was given by each Board of Selectmen and town office staff. The Boothbay region is a special place. My husband and I are, and will continue to be, very happy and proud to be part of the neighborhood.
