Be the One support is appreciated

Dear Editor:

A sparkling day of sun-filled skies and 75 degrees was the setting for the third annual Be The One American Legion Auxiliary Veteran Suicide Awareness Walk.

Fifty individuals along with a number of furry friends took to the sidewalks of Boothbay Harbor. Among them were contingents from the Boothbay Baptist Church, Togus Veterans Benefits Administration, J. Edward Knight Insurance, Ashby Law Offices, Boothbay Region Elementary School, First National Bank (Boothbay and Damariscotta branches), and Anchor Church. The event raised $3,500 for mental health programs to help local veterans at Togus VA Medical Center.

Tax deductible donations can still be made out to VAVS Suicide Awareness and on Memo Line, “Aux. Unit #36 Boothbay.” Please forward to Janet Clark, P.O. Box 292, East Boothbay, ME 04544.

On behalf of The American Legion Auxiliary, we wish to thank all of the walkers and generous donors. Job well done! Thank you for stepping up and Being The One!

Janet Clark
