Harold Snow of Manchester, at nearly 99 years old, passed away on April 25, 2024.

Harold was born on May 28, 1925 in Augusta, Maine to Russell and Edith (Mason) Snow. He graduated from Cony High School in 1943. On Aug. 23, 1951, he married Arlene Worthing and they were married for 62 years. Together they raised his stepdaughter Gail and their son Fred.

Harold built his home in Manchester on Snow Farm with lumber cut from the farm for framing timbers. He raised his family and resided there for 68 years. 

A highly regarded master electrician at Snow’s Electric, Harold took over the business from his father. His biggest project involved installing the main frame for the new Maine State Lottery in the early 70s. When inspected, it was flawless.

In the 1950s Harold’s family spent summer weekends in a family cabin at secluded Otter Point Beach in Owl’s Head. In 1967 Arlene and Harold purchased a cozy cottage at Ocean Point, Boothbay. It was a special place for family gatherings, grandchildren’s overnight visits, dinner out with friends, and scenic Shore Drive walks. Harold and Arlene were terrific dancers and were admired for being light on their feet.

Well into his 90s, Harold excelled at telling jokes and stories about people he had known. He read voraciously, kept up with current events, and enjoyed watching birds, especially hummingbirds, at his feeders.

Harold was loving, caring, and kind. He will be sorely missed.

Harold received his 50-year pin as a member of Bethlehem Lodge of the Freemasons. He was a lifetime member of Kora Temple and a life member of the Kennebec Historical Society. 

Harold was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Edith; his wife, Arlene; and sisters Ruth Shepherd and Dorothy Sesto.

He is survived by his brother, Edward Snow; son Fred Snow (Cynthia); his stepdaughter, Gail Yamello; his grandchildren, Anna Snow, Nicholas Snow, Kimberly Pease, Kelly Jordan, and Kerrie Guite; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 10 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St. in Augusta where a brief Masonic service will take place at 5:30 p.m.  

A graveside service will take place in June at Manchester Forks Cemetery.
