Help make Maine memories

Docents needed
Tue, 05/07/2024 - 9:45am

Summer visitors to Lincoln County are drawn to this area for the walks and water sports, beaches and boating, but they also seek opportunities to step back in time at our historic sites and house museums. Lincoln County Historical Association’s Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, 1811 Old Jail in Wiscasset, and Chapman Hall House in Damariscotta are three such sites.

Each year, from June 1 to Oct. 1, LCHA volunteers act as docents (tour guides) or greeters. The time commitment is generally once or twice per month for four to six hours, depending on the site. Greeters take admission fees and meet with guests while a tour is in progress. Docent training and guidebooks are available.

If you have an interest in history and enjoy meeting new people, please contact Shannon Gilmore at Lincoln County Historical Association, lchamaine@gmail.com.

Lincoln County Historical Association is a non-profit organization that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
