New business Begin Again a convenience for local contractors

Lisa Burnham is excited to present her new Boothbay business Begin Again to contractors and homeowners of the Boothbay peninsula and Midcoast Maine.

Begin Again at 798 Wiscasset Road in Boothbay stocks Schluter System products, traditional tile, luxury vinyl tile and planking and engineered and hardwood flooring. Burnham is working with a network of contractors and installers to supply this variety of flooring product and all the essentials for professional installation.

“I've been in the industry for four years, and I've just decided to venture out on my own and just help people get the materials they need locally,” said Burnham. “Most contractors are using this product anyway, so I thought I would offer it in the area instead of having to wait for it to be ordered or anything. It's here – fully stocked and available on site.”

Burnham also offers flooring consultations and a wealth of knowledge about the Schluter System. She also stressed that she works with the public, with homeowners and not just contractors. She supplies all the essentials, and some of the specialty items hard to find at big box stores: soap niches, seats and heat-under-tile flooring, among others.

Daltile in Portland is Begin Again's supplier and sends out a truck with all Burnham's shipments. However, keeping on-call hours more or less, Burnham said she also makes runs with her truck to stay ahead of customers' orders.

“These come in 60 inches, now,” Burnham said patting a boxed shower curb. “Nobody even has these in stock … They order for you. I have the anticipation and knowledge of what you're going to need ahead of time. I think more as a contractor than as a store person.”

Burnham said she is also working with Aerus Elecrolux Company to provide free water testing to homeowners. These services can help homeowners identify and solve water issues and improve water qualities, Burnham said. “With some of the water issues we have on the peninsula, I thought offering those services might help.”

Begin Again’s doors don’t open or close on a set schedule. Burnham prefers a phone call to set up an appointment. She said above all else, good customer service is her top priority and that is why she is stocking her business so well.

“It doesn't have to be 'Oh, no, they're closing at 4' or 'Oh, no, she's not open because it's Saturday.’ I live in town and I will work with everybody. I’ll (set it up) conveniently around your busy schedule … but if I'm open, swing in.”
