Ocean Point Column: A wedding, a birth and more

If you are here vacationing you are experiencing some of the best pre -fall weather ever. Each day features clear blue skies and perfect temperatures and it appears that this great stretch of weather will continue into next week as well.

Despite some cloud cover on Saturday, Sept. 7, it was a beautiful day for the wedding of Corey Johnson and Thijs Storms at the Ocean Point Chapel. Many gathered to witness their exchange of vows followed by a reception at the Casino. Corey is the daughter of Tim and Tracy Johnson and the granddaughter of Allen and Sally Johnson. Congratulations to the happy couple.

Other exciting news from the Johnson family is the birth of baby daughter Ava to Alex (Johnson) and her husband Kacper Adach. I understand Ava was born just a few short weeks ago and was able to attend the wedding of her aunt. Congratulations to Alex and Kacper and new grandparents Tim and Tracy and great grandparents Allen and Sally.

Tim and Tracy Johnson spent their summer biking in Europe before returning to Ocean Point.

Many of you have expressed your sadness over the past few years at the loss of our three trees. Unfortunately the remaining tree was taken down by last January’s storm.

On a happier note Ocean Point resident Jean Larkin has just created some beautiful giclee prints of the trees from her original oil painting.

Jean’s decision to paint the trees comes from her personal feelings regarding these trees and expresses that “Over the years three trees has acted as a meeting place for walkers, artists, teens, drivers and a spot to enjoy a picnic. They stood tall for many years until they could no longer withstand the violent and disastrous storms. I have made an effort to bring their memories back to you in prints. Enjoy my effort to assist you in remembering these special trees.”

The cost of Jean’s prints is $60, plus shipping, Jean can be reached at gblarkin27@gmail.com. These striking prints make the perfect gift for a friend or a loved one and are sure to stir up wonderful memories of that special location.

Just a reminder to those of you continuing to play tennis and or pickleball the court time must be reserved 24 hours in advance by contacting Anna Waldman.

Enjoy this beautiful weather and have a great week!
