It’s Windjammer Week! Aside from the rain this past weekend, there seem to be many, many activities downtown! We will be selling Lobster Raffle tickets at Pier 1 Pizza this coming Wednesday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. See below for more details.

Now for the beginning of July! We, at The Community Center, will have a short week. We’ll be here Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (July 1-July 3). Then Thursday and Friday, (July 4 – July 5) we will be closed to celebrate Independence Day!

Our closet is still stuffed! We need help with our space crunch in our Durable Medical Equipment room. We especially have an abundance of incontinence products – Depends, bed/chair pads and everything in between in all sizes, including bags and bags of women’s size small. Please help us. Come and get any stuff you need! And all Durable Medical Equipment is free for your needs. Of course, however, donations are welcome.

Fresh vegetables arrive on Friday mornings. The veggies are very generously donated by Town Village Foodbank Farm and Veggies to Table.  Get your bag ready to bring over on Fridays during the summer!

Lobsters! This will be the last week of selling Lobster Raffle tickets through July 2 until the drawing that will take place around noon! Here’s your last chance to win 10 Maine Lobsters, generously donated by Atlantic Edge Lobster. Just think: one ticket for $15 will buy you a chance to win 10 lobsters! However, if you purchase three tickets for $30, you will triple your chances of winning the 10 lobsters! Raffle tickets are available here at The Community Center Monday – Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and also at the Farmers Market in the gazebo on the Boothbay Common on Thursday mornings. We will hold the drawing for the lobsters on July 2, at our Pie/Cake Bake Sale (see the next paragraph).

On July 2, The Community Center will hold a fundraising Pie/Cake Bake Sale outside in the parking lot of the Meadow Mall rain or shine!  We plan on having many pies, cakes, fudge, and other sweets available for sale.  All proceeds will benefit The Community Center.  Calories do not nonexistent on July 2.  I’m sure you will all have too many guests to feed over the 4th of July weekend, so this is a great time to stock up, and you will not have to clean up your kitchen!

Here is our schedule for July 1-July 5:

Monday, July 1: Drop-in Knitting 10 a.m.-noon; Inner Peace 1-2 p.m.

Tuesday, July 2: Annual Pie/Bake sale 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Mah Jongg 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; VIP 1:15-3 p.m.

Wednesday, June 26: Cribbage 12:30-2 p.m.

Thursday, July 4:  Closed

Friday, July 5: Closed

Puzzles, coffee, tea, goodies, and good camaraderie are always available all week long. Please save us from eating too many goodies ourselves by coming in and sharing our snacks. And we always welcome new faces and fresh ideas!
