Bayville Buzz

Mon, 08/12/2024 - 10:15am

Since Jeff is in Florida visiting his Dad, he asked if someone could write this week’s Buzz.

Junior Buzz Reporters Hannah Srojny, Mallory Strogny, and Presley Frascella rose to the occasion and went about the village with their clipboards to gather all the news that’s fit to print, meeting their deadline in only one day!

What a storm this week. All this bad weather has really impacted the boats in Bayville (but has made for great sleeping, if you like the sound of wind and rain). The Lacroix’s dinghy came untied and got wedged under the dock. Thankfully it was saved and still working, but with slight damage to the engine. Unfortunately, the Allisons’ motorboat was dealt more serious damage. It sank on the mooring, two Sea Tow boats were able to float it up with the help of a diver and it was towed away.

We’re sure some of you have been wondering about the hole in the Wolframs’ yard. They told us that they have sadly not dug up an ancient treasure, but are actually digging up a weed called American bamboo weed that has plagued their garden for the second time.

Our local celebrity flamingo, Philbert has been enjoying his retirement on Phil’s golf cart while he lets the Dragon (a new star) have his time to shine. He has been flying from boat to boat and has moved on to East Boothbay.

Miss Alina has also informed us that her husband Robert is feeling much better.

The residents of Bayville have been enjoying feeding the horses Celebrity (the larger brown horse) and Elijah (the smaller cream-colored pony) with special grain pellets from Spence. You can find them on the stone wall across from the horse field.

We would also like you to be sure to check out the Mapping in Maine event on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. at the Harbor Theater.  You can get more information about the event from the sign at the Post Office or talk to Julie O’Brien-Merrill about this fundraiser for the Historical Society.
