The Boothbay Region High School state championship and sportsmanship banners have returned to the school gymnasium (except the 2013 cross-country banner, which is still on order).

The banners recently returned from being professionally dry cleaned.

“It did a world of good,” BRHS Principal Dan Welch said. “They look much better.”

The four new “add a year” banners remain as well. Other banners remaining in the gym will include the individual recognition banners, and the school will soon be getting banners for individual sports such as track and swimming which will hang in the gym as well.

The remaining banners will be placed around the school, most likely as a summer project after the current school year is over.

“We just don't have the room in the gym anymore, especially if we make the gym aesthetically pleasing,” Welch said. “However, we will probably hang some of the oldest ones in the gym so they are still a part of our school culture.”

According to Welch, a total of 79 banners used to hang on the walls. When the new ones arrive, there will be 84 in total.
