Court holds plea and sentencing hearings for Plummer

    A Boothbay Harbor man accused of participating in a March 2023 shooting at Campbell Creek Housing Complex has plea and sentencing hearings set for 1 p.m. Sept. 23 in Lincoln County Superior Court. Matthew A. Plummer, 41, of Boothbay Harbor was arrested on March 19, 2023 for aggravated attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, police standoff and violating conditions of release. His plea and sentencing hearings also include other charges dating from 2018 to 2020.

    Plummer allegedly fired a handgun in Campbell Creek Housing Complex’s parking lot. Plummer was arrested by the Maine State Tactical Team and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office after a standoff.  The shooting victim was identified as Thomas Hourihan, 35, of Wiscasset. He was later transported to a hospital and treated for six gunshot wounds.   

    Plummer also faces charges in separate events from 2018, 2019 and 2020. Justice Daniel Billings will hear all pleas and sentencing for the four cases. From 2020, Plummer faces a violation of condition of release and refusing to submit from an armed standoff charges. From 2019, he faces a violation of condition of release and two charges stemming from his incarceration in the Knox County jail where he allegedly assaulted an inmate and prison guard in separate incidents. From 2018, he was charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence and criminal threatening, domestic violence assault and refusing to submit from an armed standoff.

    Court records show Plummer’s criminal history dates back to 2004. He is a convicted felon. Plummer pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, on Feb. 11, 2004, a second aggravated assault on Oct. 10, 2004, a drug stealing charge on May 30, 2015 and an aggravated criminal mischief charge on Dec. 15, 2015. Plummer was granted conditional pre-conviction bail for a crime punishable by a maximum period of imprisonment of one year or more. The condition was to refrain from possessing a firearm or other dangerous weapons.
