Bayville Buzz
While Routes 27 and 96 have their own projects, the Bayville Road transformation continues and reportedly, the horses are quite happy with the progress and are excited to move in. Speaking of projects, I'm no engineer, so I don't understand everything that is going on with the bridge near Taste of Maine, however, you don't need to be an engineer to understand what's happening on Bath Road in Wiscasset. Maine's Prettiest Village title is on hold until the bricks are back in place and the scaffolding is gone from the Wawenock building. I'm sure it's a frustrating situation for all involved and hopefully, the work will be completed sooner rather than later.
In a sign of progress - or there goes the neighborhood - Bayville is about to have its first aluminum runway.
There is no doubt that Bayvillians love to travel. Mark and Barbara Spencer just returned after walking the entire 500-mile Camino de Santiago. This was Mark's second time doing this and says it was even better the second time. I guess it must have been, as he is already planning the third trek. Barbara says once was enough but is really glad she did it!
Thomas and Linda Hultin just got back from an extensive tour of Italy. I briefly attempted to write down all the places they visited, but quickly lost track. Their informal tour guides were two of Thomas's cousins who happened to grow up in Italy. He hadn't seen them in many, many years but said they all got along very well, even though they were all driving around in one very small car.
The spring storms took off all the cross bracing on the Hultin dock, so Thomas was planning on working with one of FLP's (Fearless Leader Phil) crews when back in Bayville. Thomas reports that while sipping wine and enjoying the good life, Phil texted to let him know all the bracing was back in place. Thomas felt a moment of guilt that he was in Italy and wasn't there to help out, but of course, not guilty enough that he stopped enjoying his Italian red.
It's my theory that Phil gets all these jobs done when we aren't around to help because he knows we will just slow him down. I shouldn't speak for Thomas - or anyone else - but I know whenever I volunteer to help Phil out with something, it's done before my services are requested!
Thomas has been very busy getting the Bayville Swim Center ready for the rapidly approaching opening day. Speak to him or Linda to get your seasonal passes before they are all sold!
In some very sad news, I was notified of the recent passing of Martha Coffin Reed. Our condolences to her family.
