The award-winning Maine-based Don Campbell Band has been a mainstay at concerts, fairs, festivals, cruises, and civic events for over two decades, performing a mix of Don’s original music and covers. Their dynamic performances have won him accolades at Nashville’s Grand Ol’ Opry, and on Saturday, Sept. 16, Don and the band bring their music back to the Opera House in Boothbay Harbor.

Don Campbell has a unique and uncanny ability to sing comfortably in the tenor range of Vince Gill, Chris Isaak or Dan Fogelberg, and go easily into the sub bass vocal level range of country greats Josh Turner and Johnny Cash. Don Campbell’s music resides in the home of “American crossover” akin to the Eagles and John Cougar Mellencamp.

Don won the $50,000.00 Grand Prize at Nashville’s Grand Ol’ Opry with his original music, a Grand Prize custom Gibson Les Paul guitar from Jim Beam’s Back Room Band Search, and he’s a six-time winner of the title, “Maine’s Best Singer-Songwriter” from the Maine Sunday Telegram’s Annual Reader’s Poll. He has also received national recognition for his Double CD Release, “Kites To Fly – Celebrating The Music of Dan Fogelberg.” Officially endorsed in April of 2014 by the Fogelberg Association of Peoria, he and band mates have toured the country performing Fogelberg classics.

Don has written and released 12 CDs. Additionally, he has been commissioned to write songs for specific organizations and occasions including “A Friend Right Here,” as the National Theme Song for Visiting Nurses Association of America.

Advance discounted tickets for the concert are $25 and available at the Opera House box office, 86 Townsend Avenue, or by calling 633-5159. Regular tickets are $30 online at http://boothbayoperahouse.com. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:30.

Other upcoming performances include Grammy-nominee Seth Glier performing on Sept. 2, Scotland’s trad-infused Heron Valley Band making their Opera House debut on Sept. 8, and the high-energy sound of Scotland’s award-winning Skerryvore band on Sept. 23. Advance discounted tickets for all performances are available from the box office.
