Be sure to visit East Boothbay

If you take Route 96/Ocean Point Road off Route 27/Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor, it will take you to the village of East Boothbay. There you will find the businesses the village is best known for – boatyards and shipyards.

Stop at East Boothbay General Store to pick up a picnic lunch, then hang a right onto Murray Hill Road to the Linekin Bay boat launch – about 500 yards – to view the ocean and enjoy your food.

There is public parking behind the East Boothbay Fire Station on School Street where you can park and take the time to walk around the village to either Murray Hill Road or back to the Mill Pond vista. Homeowners take pride in gardens for all to enjoy and the somewhat hilly routes are good exercise. Boothbay Region Land Trust’s Linekin and Burley preserves are also in East Boothbay.

After visiting the village – where lodging is also available – be sure to continue down Route 96 to visit the region’s most spectacular views at Ocean Point. The Point’s roads were damaged in the January ocean storms, but hopefully construction crews will have them fixed by summer.
