Beautiful day for Alumni Cookout

Barrett’s Park in Boothbay Harbor was draped in sunshine Sunday, June 2 for the Alumni Cookout. About 10 soon-to-be 2024 Boothbay Region High School graduates joined about 35 to 40 alumni from various graduation years and parents of the graduating class to enjoy hot dogs, cheeseburgers, various salads, chips, soft drinks, desserts – including strawberry shortcake – and more for a couple of hours.

Lynn Martin, president of the BRHS Alumni Association, and many helpers provided a nice spread of food. Darrell Gudroe provided a sound system and music while everyone ate, talked and played cornhole.

The cookout replaced the annual Alumni Dinner a few years ago. Last year’s event was rained out.

BRHS senior class advisor Allan Crocker said there were a few graduation parties being held on Sunday, which may have contributed to the low turnout of seniors.
