Boothbay beats Raiders, 47-37
A 10-1 run by the Lady Seahawks in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter broke open a one-point game as Boothbay went on to defeat the visiting Oak Hill Raiders, 47-37, Thursday night, Jan. 17.
Boothbay led 32-31 after three quarters but two quick hoops by Alex Clarke (7 points) and a driving layup by Sarah Caron (9 points) forced Oak Hill's Coach Tom Morong to call a timeout to slow the game down. After the timeout, Allison Crocker (6 points) and Morgan Crocker each got a basket and the Raiders (6-6) weren't able to catch the 10-2 Lady Seahawks the rest of the way.
Morgan Crocker led Boothbay's scoring with 17 points. She was also a spark on defense, registering six steals. Allison Crocker led Boothbay in rebounding with nine.
Earlier this season, Boothbay won fairly easily at Oak Hill, 46-29. In the first half of Thursday's game, however, Boothbay committed nine turnovers and had only one offensive rebound, which kept the improved Raiders in the game. Boothbay had only four turnovers in the second half.
Sadie Goulet and Grace Sabine each scored 9 points to lead Oak Hill.
The Lady Seahawks travel to Mt. Abram on Friday night, Jan. 18 to take on the 6-6 Roadrunners.
