Boothbay buries Mt. Abram
The Boothbay Region Seahawk boys basketball team got its first win of the season Wednesday night, 72-35, at home over the Mt. Abram Roadrunners.
The Seahawks (1-2) outscored the Roadrunners, 22-2, in the third quarter and cruised to the victory. Three players scored in double figures and ten players scored at least one basket.
Senior Abel Bryer led all scorers with 19 points, followed by junior Jacob Leonard with 17 and sophomore Kyle Ames with 14. Mt. Abram was led by junior Daniel Luce with 14 points.
Boothbay jumped out to a 24-9 lead after eight minutes, but Mt. Abram (1-2) didn’t quit and played even with the Seahawks in the second quarter, with each team scoring 14 points. However, Boothbay shut down the Roadrunners’ offense in the second half with full- and half-court defensive pressure.
Boothbay plays at Madison on Friday, then hosts Telstar on Monday.
