Boothbay Community On Track continues efforts
When the community started talking about building a track in the Boothbay region, the site for the track was around Sherman Field. This site would have allowed for a 4-lane track, as opposed to an 8-lane regulation track that would qualify to hold regional and state championship meets.
After much review, consideration and professional consultation, it has been determined that the most viable site is behind the elementary school. An 8-lane track will provide ample space for our athletes to practice safely and compete
Currently, our 50 track and field athletes are practicing on roads, in school hallways and in busy parking lots. The track will allow us to host large scale championship meets as well as providing the opportunity to host Special Olympic events.
Hosting large-scale events will have a positive effect on local businesses, bringing many athletes and their families to town. This facility will also be accessible to all members of the community for exercise and recreation, thus furthering our efforts to contribute to healthy lifestyle habits.
All donations to the community track qualify as a 501 (c) (3) tax-deductible contribution. If interested in donating to this fund, contact Mame Anthony at manthony@csd3-bres.org/.
