Boothbay crushes Traip, 42-12
On a picture perfect fall night for football at Sherman Field, the Seahawks moved a step closer to their ultimate goal with a very convincing 42-12 victory September 27 over the Traip Academy Rangers.
Setting the tone early, the Seahawks scored on their first possession moving 68 yards on five plays with Julian Aponte scoring from 24 yards out on a well set up screen pass from Nick Kilgus. Jude Alamo caught a half back option pass from Aponte for the two-point conversion.
The visiting Rangers returned the ensuring kickoff for a touchdown, but failed on the conversion to leave the Seahawks up 8-6.
Jason Maddocks ran 74 yards for a touchdown for the Seahawks before Traip put together a drive that ended with a quarterback sneak by Chris Czachor for a touchdown.
But the Seahawks took control for good when Aponte scored his second of three touchdowns on the night on a 24-yard screen pass from Kilgus with 9:43 to play in the half. Jude Alamo would add the the two points.
Alamo would score five minutes later on a 22-yard criss cross as the Seahawks extended their lead to 28-12.
Aponte raced in from 22-yards out on Boothbay's first possession of the second half and Gabe Purin scored from a yard out late in the first quarter to wrap up the scoring.
The Seahawks travel to Maranacook in Readfield October 4.
