Boothbay falls to Lisbon, 20-0
The Boothbay Region High School Seahawks football team had its best opportunity to score on the first possession of the second half but could only get as close as the Lisbon 10-yard line in a 20-0 loss to the visiting Greyhounds on Friday, Sept. 20. The big play of the drive was a 22-yard run by Gabe Purin, which moved the ball to the 12-yard line.
The Greyhounds got on the board late in the first quarter when Noah Francis scored from eight yards out. The big sophomore set up the score with a 29-yard gain on the first play of the drive.
After the Seahawks failed to score on the first possession of the second half, Lisbon marched the length of the field and moved to a 12-0 lead on the strength of another touchdown run by Francis, who also later add the final score on a 43-yard run.
The Seahawks put together another strong defensive effort but were never was able to bust a big play on offense or pick up the big first down that would have kept the Lisbon offense from eventually putting up points.
The Seahawks will be on the road to Kittery on Saturday, Sept. 27 to face Traip Academy in a 1:30 p.m. Class D contest.
