Boothbay falls to Monmouth
The Boothbay Region Seahawks boys varsity basketbal team dropped to 2-3 on the season in the Mountain Valley Conference with loss at Monmouth on Jan. 8.
The game against the Mustangs saw Boothbay leading at the half, 29-25, but the hosts put together a strong second half and went on to win, 63-52.
Boothbay managed only six points in the third quarter while Monmouth went on a tear, scoring 23 points in eight minutes and building a lead of 48-35 going into the final quarter.
Monmouth, which improved to 5-3, was led by Sammy Calder with 19 points, while Manny Calder finished with 14. The Calders combined to make seven 3-pointers.
Lucas Hardwick (three 3-pointers) and Matt Sullivan each scored 16 points for Boothbay.
