Last February, the 15th ranked Boothbay Region Seahawks upset second-ranked Old Orchard Beach, 82-75, in overtime at Old Orchard Beach in the opening round of the Class C playoffs.

On Tuesday, the Seagulls remembered that loss and went on to defeat the visiting Seahawks, 71-54.

Boothbay started slow and trailed 21-6 after one quarter and by 19 points at the half. Ironically, last February’s upset saw the Seahawks trailing by 19 points early in the third quarter, but there was to be no comeback this time.

OOB (4-0) was led by Landen Johnson with 25 points. Boothbay (1-2) was led by Gryffin Kristan with 21 points (six three-pointers), followed by Finn Harkins with 16.

Boothbay next hosts Winthrop (3-1) on Thursday, Dec 22.
