Boothbay football’s statistical leaders for 2021
Boothbay lost in the eight-man football playoff quarterfinal round, but the season did provide several memorable performances. Boothbay (3-5) scored an opening night 26-0 victory over No. 2 Dirigo (5-2) at Sherman Field. The Seahawks also scored a come-from-behind homecoming win over Sacopee Valley and notched a victory over large conference foe Gray-New Gloucester in the final regular season game.
On defense, Boothbay made 288.5 tackles: Dylan Plummer, 50.5; Connor Wenners, 43.5; Ashton McLellan, 40; Nase Lawless, 24.5; Jordan Carrier, 24; Caden Royal, 20; Kayden Ames, 19.5; Luke Morley, 13.5; Aidric Canada, 11; Drew Meader, 10; Zach Rollins, 9.5; Damian Torre, 7.5; Slade Balsdon, 5; Sam Page, 4.5; Grant Swope, 3.5; Tyson French, 2.5; Ryan Amaral, 2; Robert Shaw, 1; and Brett Smith and Braden Davis each had a half-tackle.
On offense, Boothbay passers completed 47 of 105 attempts for 719 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Ames was 42 of 82 for 631 yards, eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions. McLellan was one of 12 for five yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. And Swope completed four of seven passes for 83 yards, with no touchdowns or interceptions.
Ames was the team’s leading rusher. He amassed 925 yards on 164 carries and four touchdowns. McLellan also ran for four touchdowns. He had 58 rushes gaining 187 yards. Swope rushed for two touchdowns. He rushed 21 times for 173 yards. Lawless had 24 carries for 144 yards and one touchdown. Canada had 18 rushes for 48 yards. Wenners had 14 rushes for 43 yards. Balsdon had five carries for 10 yards. French carried five times for four yards. Maddox Cusumano rushed twice for seven yards. And Page rushed twice for six yards.
McLellan was the Seahawks’ leading receiver with 25 catches for 420 yards and six touchdowns. Amaral and Canada each caught one touchdown pass. Amaral caught six passes for 142 yards and Canada seven passes for 73 yards. Meader had four receptions for 39 yards. Ames had one catch for 24 yards. Swope caught one pass for 12 yards. Plummer caught one pass for one yard. And Rollins had one catch for three yards.
