Boothbay gets first win
A pair of goals by freshmen held up Wednesday as the Boothbay Region High School field hockey team got its first win of the 2014 season, 2-1, over St. Dominic Academy in Auburn on Wed., Sept. 10.
Boothbay's goals were scored by Sydney Meader and Page Brown. Meader scored on a penalty stroke and Brown scored on a breakaway, with Meader credited with the assist.
St. Dom's goal came with about 9:30 remaining, as Logan Ronan found the net off a pass from Jessica Boulet.
"The team continues to improve as individuals work hard to develop their skills," said Seahawk coach Donna Jordan in an email. "Last night's game is the best team performance I have seen yet following our preseaon scrimmages and season opener against Mt. Valley."
Boothbay (1-1) will host its first game of the season on Friday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. when the Ramblers of Winthrop (2-1) invade Perkins Field.
