Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library
Did you know that April 2-April 8 is the Week of the Young Child? The National Association for the Education of Young Children designated this week to put a spotlight on the importance of children aged 0-8. It is a time to not only spotlight the children, but also the people who care and educate them: daycare providers, preschool teachers, early elementary teachers, and of course parents, grandparents, and family and friends!
In the Boothbay region there are many dedicated professionals who care for and educate these ages of children; it’s an extremely important time in their life when the brain grows quickly. Research shows that the foundational years of a human’s life can affect the rest of their life. What you do now has a ripple effect as children grow older.
At Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, we have resources to support early childhood educators and their young students. This year, from April 2-8, we will highlight library resources that support and celebrate the importance of early childhood education.
Join us throughout the week for special activities for our youngest community members: Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday.
Kick off Saturday, April 2, 10:30 a.m., Dinosaur Storytime with Joan Chatterton, Early Childhood Educator
Visit: National Association for the Education of Young Children (www.naeyc.org) and Maine Association for the Education of Young Children (www.maineaeyc.org) for information and ideas on how to support the development of the young children in your life!
