Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club
Ah, summer in Maine. It's been a real summer, hot and muggy at times, but you can open your windows to catch the breezes. The Barn sure was hopping, definitely summertime at the Big Gray Barn. Captain (and now Co-President) Mike has quite a fleet of boats at the Barn. He added a gorgeous, aluminum, Grumman canoe this week. We sure are lucky to live in this community and have such generous neighbors. Get it quick, perfect weather for canoeing.
We're back to the Rotary Club this Thursday at 6 p.m. for our weekly meeting. Along with the fun of just being together we’ll welcome stone sculptor Joseph DiMauro. Joseph was raised in Boothbay, apprenticed with a Maine Stone Sculptor, Dan Ucci. He is now sculpting in his own workshop. He will talk about his work and also about the Boothbay Sculpture Trail.
The Program/Fun Committee is meeting this Thursday at 4;30 at the Clubhouse. Join us.
Just to make our return special, so special, Eric Wilts and Jim Herbold are barbecuing up some turkeys for dinner. Oh, yum, yum. A summer time treat for sure. So, don't miss this meeting.
On June 27 we welcomed our new co-presidents Mike Thompson and Alden Wood. With Laurie Zimmerli as president-elect and Rick Jameson in the vice president role it's going to be a good year. Lots of Happy Dollars given for our first place float at the Windjammer Parade and as a thank you to outgoing president Tory Paxson and our incoming presidents, officers and board. As usual, lots of good natured teasing and banter, laughter seems to be an integral part of any Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club meeting.
So if you're interested in the fun and work of Rotary, join us every Thursday night at 6 at the Rotary Club, 66 Montgomery Road, Boothbay Harbor for dinner and camaraderie.
The Big Gray Rotary Barn is open every Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. We are accepting donations of gently used furniture, tools, lamps, boats, just about anything. Contact Deb at 207-350-3880 for pick up or drop off plans.
