Boothbay lacrosse team off to a spirited start
The new club team for girls lacrosse got started at Bath’s Hyde School on May 21.
In the afternoon of Round Robin games, Boothbay played Hyde’s club team and Morse High School’s club team, but Coach Sarah Bryant preferred to focus on the game instead of watching every goal.
“The collaboration between all teams was wonderful and allowed the girls to expereince competition of all degrees,” Bryant said. “This spring is the first year that Boothbay has had a club team, but has a great feeder program that we hope will continue to grow.”
Bryant said the Boothbay YMCA assisted the club team with gear and field space.
The team also received help from Coach Levesque and Coach Avery from Morse, and Coach Truluck from Hyde. “(They were) very generous and supportive in creating competition that was fun an educational, for the girls to obtain experience with apply the new rules,” Bryant said. “The officials helped the girls to understand rules and regulations that they have discussed and practiced and apply in a game situation.
“The round robin was overall very successful, and all coaches have penciled in games for next year as well.”
