Boothbay wears down Wolverines, finish 17-1
On Senior Night at Porter Memorial Gymnasium Monday, the Boothbay Region High School girls varsity basketball team completed the regular season at 17-1 with an easy 56-21 win over the Wiscasset Wolverines (1-16).
Coach Tanner Grover started his five seniors, Kate Friant, Nicole Clarke, Alexis Welch, Elisabeth Wright and Angie Perkins. Perkins, who has been unable to play this season because of a concussion, didn’t play but a half a minute, but she did manage to score a free throw as a substitute shooter in the second half. Throughout the game, Grover put several combinations on the floor and teammates tried to get everyone in the scorebook.
BRHS junior Page Brown led all scorers with 18 points, followed by sophomore Faith Blethen with 15.
Wiscasset was led by senior Hayhlee Craig with 12.
As of Monday night, the Seahawks were still in second place behind Richmond in Class C South, with Richmond having to play one more game on Wednesday.
Boothbay will next play a quarterfinal tournament game at the Augusta Civic Center during school vacation week with the opponent, date and time to be announced.
