Boothbay wins at Dirigo
The Boothbay Region Seahawks improved to 2-0 with a 69-59 win over the Dirigo Cougars at Dixfield Tuesday night, Dec. 10.
Boothbay had four players score in double figures with Ben Pearce leading the way with 22. Mike Hollowell had 17, Hunter Crocker, 14, and Kaleb Ames, 10.
The Seahawks were missing three key players due to the flu, and struggled at the beginning of the game. The Seahawks trailed by one after the first quarter as two of the Dirigo players, Mateo LaPointe and Charlie Houghton, scored all their team’s points.
Boothbay played better in the second period and outscored Dirigo 17-9, as Pearce had eight points and Crocker added six. After three quarters, Boothbay led by three points and increased their lead in the final period as Mike Hollowell had 10 fourth period points to lead the Seahawks to the victory.
Pearce led the team in rebounding with 10 and Kaleb Ames had eight. LaPointe had 20 points with 5 three-pointers, and Houghton added 16.
Dirigo dropped to 1-1 after winning its opening game at Telstar 65-55.
The Seahawks will host Lisbon on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. and Winthrop on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2:30 p.m. (Time may be changed).
