Boothbay wins season-opening match
The Boothbay Region High School girls tennis team won its season-opening match at home, 4-1, over the Oak Hill Raiders Monday, April 25 on an overcast day.
The Seahawks lost their only match on a third singles forfeit.
In first singles, Laura Chapman defeated Ari Thibault, 6-0, 6-2. Second singles was won by Hannah Roberts, who defeated Alexus Spencer, 6-3, 6-2.
In first doubles, Jaelyn Crocker and Katie Nein won easily, 6-0, 6-2, over Sarah R. and Julia Kronstand.
Second doubles players Della Hahn and Savannah Compare prevailed over Nhi Nguyen and Destiny Samare, 6-4, 6-2.
“Katie, Savannah, and Laura all got their first career wins,” said coach Alex Arsenault. “Hannah picked up where she left off last year!”
The Seahawks’ next home match is scheduled for Friday, April 29 at 4 p.m. against Mountain Valley.
