Boothbay wrestlers best Monmouth, fall to Oak Hill
The Boothbay Wrestling team went to Monmouth Wednesday, Jan. 29 and wrestled Monmouth, Oak Hill, and Wiscasset’s club team.
Against Oak Hill, Boothbay lost 24 to 33. Jude Alamo and Howie Carter wrestled their way to victory while Riley Spear and Antonio Maulolo both received forfeits. Against Monmouth, Boothbay won 27 to 24.
The key to the victory was Carter’s 2-0 win over Angus Keller, giving Boothbay the 3 point advantage. Maulolo also wrestled his way to victory while Spear, Alamo and Lucas Leighton each received forfeits.
The meet last night wrapped up the regular season for Boothbay.
The team finished with a 5-7-1 record for the season.
The mid-state league meet is this Saturday at Wells High School. Maulolo finished the regular season with a 16-1 record and Carter with a 13-5 record.
Everyone on the team contributed points and helped make this a very successful first season back as a team. Maulolo and Carter will be among the favorites going into the league meet and State Meet.
