The Boothbay Region High School boys and girls cross country teams marked the beginning of the season on Saturday, Aug. 26 with the Panther Pre-Season 2 Miler. The meet was hosted by the Medomak Valley High School cross country team.
“I was really impressed with how well today's competition went for our team,” said BRHS Coach Nick Scott. “We had some outstanding performances turned in for such an early season race.”
Glory Blethen was the first freshman girl to cross the finish line, placing sixth (out of 31 athletes). Sophomore Delly Clarkson was the fifth of her class year to cross the finish line.
Senior Kyle Ames placed third overall, out of 57 athletes, and was the second senior to finish the race. Scott said, “Ames showed that summer training really does pay off.”
Freshman Mason Erhard finished 16th overall and was the second in his class year to finish the race. Freshman Graham Harris came in 19th with sophomore Patrick Conlin shortly behind at 21st. Freshmen Fox Elder and Ryan Russell came in 23rd and 24th, respectively, and sophomore Quinn Ranta came in at 36th.
