BRHS girls basketball team holds awards gathering
The 2020-2021 Boothbay Region High School girls basketball team held its post-season awards ceremony at BRHS Wednesday, March 24, with only parents and team personnel in attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions, according to BRHS Athletic Director Allan Crocker.
Coach Brian Blethen presented plaques to senior Glory Blethen, most valuable player; senior Kylie Brown, coaches award; and junior Jaelyn Crocker, most improved player.
Besides being named the team's MVP, Blethen was recognized with the following certificates: MVC All-Conference; MVC All-Academic; McDonald's Senior All-Star; and Miss Maine Basketball Top 10 Finalist. Blethen scored her 1,000th career point during the makeshift season, where teams could only compete against regional teams due to the pandemic.
Brown was also presented with the following certificates: MVC All-Conference; MVC All-Academic; McDonald's Senior All-Star; and McDonald's All-Academic Team.
Crocker also received a certificate for MVC All-Conference, and a service bar and certificate.
Other team members received the following: freshman Jordan Chamness: basketball pin, certificate and team sweatshirt; freshman Meg Sledge: basketball pin, certificate and team sweatshirt; sophomore Megan Leeman: service bar, certificate; sophomore Veda Harriman: service bar, certificate; sophomore Kathryn Hibbard: service bar, certificate; sophomore Hannah Roberts: service bar, certificate; junior Emilie Crocker: service bar, certificate; senior Marissa Peters, service bar, manager pin and certificate.
