Boothbay Region High School junior Laura Chapman, the fourth seed in her region and 10th seed in the state, advanced for the third straight year to the state’s Round of 52 in the tennis singles tournament set for May 17 at Bates College by winning two matches in the Region 3 prelim round on Saturday, May 4. She will play at 6 p.m. May 17.

Chapman defeated her Waterville opponent in the first round, 8-0, and her Brunswick opponent, 6-1, 6-0, in the second round to qualify.

BRHS sophomore Hannah Kreft lost to her Brunswick opponent, 8-0, and Kreft’s sister, senior Sarah Kreft lost, 8-1, to her Brunswick opponent in the first round of the qualifying tournament.
