Coach Pinkham wins first round in USA Today vote
Boothbay Region High School Seahawks Coach I.J. Pinkham, thanks to his local and “worldwide” fans, won the state competition in USA Today High School Sports' best high school boys basketball coach vote, which ended at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Pinkham overwhelming defeated Falmouth's Dave Halligan, 70 to 27 percent, with the four other coaches receiving minimal votes.
Pinkham will now take on others in the regional vote. That voting will be announced on the USA Today website beginning Wednesday, Jan. 22.
There is no limit on how many times an individual can vote, so log on beginning Wednesday at noon and let's make I.J. Pinkham the best high school boys basketball coach in the northeast region.
One coach in Connecticut received over 15,000 votes in that state’s competition (Pinkham received just over 13,000), so Seahawk Nation has some work to do.
The Register will update the link to the regional voting once it is announced.
