Curtain up at the Lincoln Theater
There are so many great folks that work in the hospitality business in Damariscotta — making life fun for residents and tourists alike. What they often don't get a chance to do is enjoy things like seeing the Wimbledon finals this weekend or enjoying a good movie. This week we're pleased to fix that with “Chef,” a wonderful film about restaurants/food/passion. Along with our regular screenings, we'll be holding an 11 p.m. showing on Tuesday, July 8 for our hardworking friends. Join us for some late night air-conditioned frolicking.
Belle (PG, 1 hour 44 minutes)
Inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of Admiral Sir John Lindsay (Matthew Goode). Belle's lineage affords her certain privileges, yet her status prevents her from the traditions of noble social standing. After meeting an idealistic young vicar's son bent on changing society, he and Belle help shape Lord Mansfield's role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England. Final screenings Wednesday, July 2 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, July 3 at 2 and 7 p.m. Presented in partnership with Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty.
Chef (R, 1 hour 55 minutes)
Chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman), he is left to figure out what's next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his friend (John Leguizamo) and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen - and zest for life and love. Plays at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 4, Saturday, July 5, Sunday, July 6, Tuesday, July 8 and Wednesday, July 9. Special Night Owl Screening: Tuesday, July 8 at 11 p.m. and Thursday, July 10 at 2 p.m. Presented in partnership with King Eider’s Pub.

National Theatre Live Encore Screening:
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (2 hours 40 minutes)
Christopher, at 15 years of age, has an extraordinary brain — exceptional at math while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion of killing Mrs Shears' dog, Wellington, he records each fact about the event in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of the murder. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.
