Dolphins win dual meet at home
Both the girls' and boys' Boothbay Y Dolphins (BBYD) swim teams were pleased to win at their final home meet of the season against Piscataquis Region Y Team (PRY) on Saturday, Feb. 7.
The team had some great swims and continues to post personal bests across the board. The team’s two senior swimmers, Chris Groneng and Nicole LaBrecque, were recognized for their years of devotion to the sport and their team. Chris took off 1.29 seconds to win second place in the 50 free and Nicole earned first place in her 50 free and 100 back. Congrats to our seniors.
Piper Carleton was thrilled to post a personal best time to qualify for the New England Regionals with 16.95 in the 25 free and win firstplace. Arden Carleton won 4 points for the girls in her 50 breaststroke. Piper, Catherine Clifford and Suzie Edwards couldn’t ask for anything better in the 25 Breast with a 1, 2 and 3 event finish.
Ella Yentsch took firstplace to win the 100 IM and Marissa Peters followed up in second place. Ella also took first in the 50 back and 50 free. Zoe Eason and Meghan Clifford propelled right behind for second and third in the 50 free. Zoe flew down to win first place in the 50 fly by over 8 seconds. Callan Eason steamed down her lane to capture firstin the 50 backstroke; Sydney Blake added 4 more points with her second place finish. Marissa earned 4 more points with second place in the 100 breastroke.
Lincoln Hamblett continued to whittle her time down taking off almost 8 seconds for a first place finish in the 200 IM. Hannah Witwicki followed right behind in second place and shaving 3.10 seconds. Lincoln also took first place in her 100 back with her personal best of 1:31.26. Evy Case almost caught Nicole LaBrecque in the 50 free for her second place finish. Emma Pearce outswam PRY to capture first place in her 50 free.
For the boys, Duncan Hardwick swam down his lane 7.62 seconds faster in his third place finish in the 50 breast and took 6 points in his the 25 breast. Corey Sherman was happy to knock off more than 13 seconds in his first place finish in the 50 free and took third in the 25 free. Rafael Goldhirsch shaved .15 seconds to capture third in the 50 back and anchored the 200 free relay to win 8 points for a first place finish.
Gryffin Kristan nailed the 50 breast, the 50 back, and 50 free with first place finishes. Jackson Lorrain and Henry Landemare completed the sweep with second and thirdplace in the 50 free.
Rowan Kristan won 6 points in his 100 free and took off 1.37 seconds with his first place in the 50 back. Jameson LaBrecque and Ethan Barter followed up to complete a 1, 2 and 3 finish in the event. Ben Pearce, Ethan Barter and Chris Hamblett took 1, 2 and 3 for the 50 fly.
