The results were slow in getting to us, perhaps due to the Rockland races being run the next day, but the Charles Begin Memorial Boothbay Harbor Lobster Boat Races held on June 18 were run under blues skies and warm weather and no mishaps. Over 40 boats competed in the various classes.

Here are the results:

Work Boats Under 24 Feet

Race 1 – Class A Skiff s 16-feet and under with outboards up to 30 hp, Operator 18 years and younger: 1) Nugget, Cameron Murphy (28.1 mph).

Race 2 – Class B Inboards, outboards or outdrives, 31 to 90 hp: 1) Zippin, Amanda Dumas (34.9 mph); 2) Nadon, Frank Bennett (33.9 mph); and 3) Nugget, Cameron Murphy.

Race 3 –Class C Inboards, outboards or outdrive 91 hp and up: 1) Casco Miss, Dave Johnson (39.1 mph); 2) Miss Kylie, Edward Apon; and 3) Malago, Jim Koehling.

Gas Powered Work Boats 24 Feet And Up

Race 4 – Gasoline Class A – 4 & 6 cylinder 24 feet and over: No entrants.

Race 5 - Gasoline Class B - V-8 up to 375 cid, 24 feet and up: 1) Whiskey Girl, Mark Davis. Race 6 - Gasoline Class C - V8, 376 to 525 cid, 28 feet and over: 1) Black Diamond, Randy Durkee (30.5 mph).

Race 7 - Gasoline Class D - V-8, 376 to 540 cid, 28 feet and over. 1) Thunderbolt, Bruce Engert (45.5 mph).

Race 8 - Gasoline Class E - V-8, Over 525 cid, 28 feet and over, superchargers/Turbos. No entrants

Race 9 – Fastest Working Lobster Boat – Boothbay: 1) Blue Eyed Girl, Andrew Taylor (38.6 mph); 2) Wound Up, John Albaum; 3) All Out, Nick Page; and 4) Charger.

Race 21 - Diesel Class J – 551 to 700 hp, 36 feet and over: 1) Blue Eyed Girl, Andrew Taylor (37.4 mph); and 2) Delusional, Alan Dugas.

Race 22 - Diesel Class K – 701 to 900 hp, 28 feet and over: 1) Lisa Marie, Gary Genthner (43.6 mph); and 2) All Out, Nick Page.

Race 23 – Diesel Class L – 901 hp, 28 feet and over: 1) Wild Wild West, Cameron Crawford (53.4 mph); and 2) Miss Karlee, Ed Shirley.

Race 24 – Diesel Class M(A) – 40 feet and over, up to 500 hp: No entrants.

Race 25 – Diesel Class M(B) – 40 feet and over, 501 to 750 hp: 1) 51, Billy Bob Faulkingham (30.1 mph); 2) Centerfold, Cyrus Sleeper; and 3) Sand Dollars III, Scott Dugas.

Race 26 – Diesel Class N – 40 feet and over; 751 hp and over: 1) Whistlin’ Dixie, Andy Johnson (40.7 mph); and 2) Jacalwa, Marshall Spear.

Race 27 - Gasoline Free for All: 1) Black Diamond, Randy Durkee (33.5 mph).

Race 28 - Diesel Free for All: 1) Wild Wild West, Cameron Crawford (54.6 mph); 2) Margaret E., Patrick Faulkingham; 3) Whistlin’ Dixie, Andy Johnson; and 4) Miss Karlee, Ed Shirley.
