Have fun on the Common on the Fourth
Will the sun finally shine this week for the Boothbay Civic Association’s Fourth of July celebration on the Boothbay Common? Let's hope so.
The event will feature music, children's games, arts and crafts vendors and, of course, food. The chicken barbecue will be served around noon and will include chicken, salads, homemade pies and a beverage, all for $10. The meal usually sells out, so get in line early. Grilled hot dogs and cold water and soda will also be sold.
The Boothbay Region Community Band will open the musical portion of the event, getting everyone in the patriotic mood with “The Star-Spangled Banner” and other songs.
Arthur Webster will open the celebration with his music from shortly after 10 a.m. to noon. Danny Beal will sing and perform on keyboard from noon to about 2 p.m., followed by the quartet of Paul Johnson, Amber Jones, Gabe Tonon and Scott Rittall from 2 to 4 p.m.
