Lady Seahawks crush Bulldogs
The senior guard duo, Morgan Crocker and Sara Durgan, each had two three pointers as the Boothbay Region High School Lady Seahawks easily defeated the Madison Bulldogs, 53-30, on Feb. 7 to finish their outstanding regular season at 17-1 and seeded in second place going into the Western Maine Class C tournament next week.
Boothbay outscored the host Bulldogs, 28-13, in the second half to secure the win.
Crocker led all scorers with 16 points, followed by Durgan with 11. Sophomore Cagney O'Brien added nine points for Boothbay.
Madison (9-9) had three players score seven points each.
Seahawks Coach Tanner Grover commented on the upcoming tournament in an email. “The tournament is going to be extremely competitive this year from top to bottom. There are a number of great teams; Maranacook has to be considered a favorite, and Old Orchard believes it's their year. Dirigo is tenacious as well. Honestly, every team can be considered a legitimate contender,” said Grover.
