Lady Seahawks lose battle with St. Dom's
The Lady Seahawks lost at home to the top-ranked St. Dom's Saints Friday night, 66-52, but not without a valiant fight.
Trailing by over 20 points early in the third quarter, Boothbay took advantage of cold shooting by the Saints and battled to within five points, 48-43, with 28 seconds to play in the quarter. During the Lady Seahawks' run, junior Sara Durgan and sophomore Hannah Morley each nailed two three-pointers.
However, St. Dom's point guard Kelly Pomerleau also hit two three-pointers in the quarter and kept the visitors in front. Pomerleau scored 13 second-half points and had a game-high 27 to lead St. Dom's to its 11th (11-2) victory. Faith Grady added 23 points for St. Dom's.
Boothbay (5-8) was led be junior Morgan Crocker with 19 points, followed by Morley with 14 (including 4 three-pointers) and freshman Cagney O'Brien with 11.
